Boys and Girls Recreation Basketball

• Encourage enthusiasm for the game by challenging each player to learn and grow to their potential, from player 1 to player 8.
• Focus on fundamentals and skill development.
• Coach and play within the spirit of the game.
• We Are South County. Work together to build a quality basketball program that reflects positively on the South County area and its feeder schools.

Winter Season
Registration: Registration will open mid October.  Pre COVID season we had over 400 boys and girls registered.  We hope to exceed that number this season. Thank you parents and coaches for your support.  

Evaluation, Draft, and Team Assignments: Evaluations are TBD. Once complete, we will hold a draft and assign teams.  We are really focusing on having a balanced team to make sure all kids learn good sportsmanship.  Our Recreation League's focus will be on having fun and learning the fundamentals of basketball.

Practice Times and Locations: Practices will start after the draft and locations will be updated soon after Nov. 15 (the date by which Fairfax County will update and assign local gym space for Winter sports).

Games:  Start date: TBD.

Coaches:  Please consider volunteering to coach or be an assistant coach, teaching the kids the basics, focusing on having fun. Coaches will receive a 50% refund from their child’s registration. If there are not enough coaches, the league will also begin to waitlist players if we don’t have enough coaches registered.

Referees: We have enhanced our referee program by adding a seasoned official to oversee our program. We will train & teach all referees in preparation for the season. Our referees are paid and we are always looking for referees for the season. You can register on SCAA.

WE CANNOT FORM TEAMS UNTIL WE HAVE COACHES. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS TODAY TO PROCEED.

WE NEED THE FOLLOWING VOLUNTEERS ASAP:

1. Boys Director: Oversee Boys Rec program
2. Girls Director: Oversee Girls Rec program
3. Scheduler: Create, manage Rec practice & game schedule
4. Director of Officials: Oversee the referees
5. Administrative Support: Support the Director of Officials with schedule and other duties as needed
6. Team Managers: Support the team & coaches as needed
